This research aims to find out how far the role of government and society in preserving traditional music of Gendang Beleq in central Lombok of district. The research process begins by analyzing internal and external environmental factors using a linkert scale. Then define the strategy issues using SWOT analysis techniques. The role of the government in preserving the Gendang Beleq music is not a give modern music of flourish of destroy the typical music of sasak by not inviting modern music to fill the show in big events in central Lombok. Local government support in preserving Gendang Beleq music as a tourist attraction. It is shown by the participation of the community who gave permission to his children to play Gendang Beleq music.
