The research was aimed to determine: (1) Preserving strategy of Sate Lilit as an icon of Balinese culinary tourism (2) How the government and people preserve sate lilit. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. Data collection methods used in this research were interviews, questionnaires, observation, and documentation. Data processing is done by reduction, display, verification and triamplation. The data is analyzed using SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat. The results refered that Sate Lilit has a unique taste and has a cultural heritage that deserves to be preserved because it contains historical values and philosophy. Preserving Sate Lilit can be done by introducing various advantages of Sate lilit, and inherit the process of making it to the next generation and inviting the government and people to participate in the preservation of sate lilit as an icon of Balinese culinary tourism.
