<abstract language="eng">The author redescribes four species of Phaenicia refered to Brazil: P. sericata (Meigen), P. pallescens (Shannon), P. mexicana (Macquart) and P. eximia (Wiedemann). A new species, P. japuhybensis from the State of Rio de Janeiro, was also studied.
