Three main conditions seem to be associated with the cultural transfer of periodical press from Spain to America. The first one is the superiority of those who transmit and the inferiority of those who receive. The second one is that if those who give are almost always motivated by self-interest, those who receive may often want to benefit from an input; this is « the transfer by aspiration ». The third one is that there is no adoption without adaptation: hence, the official press failed, due to excessive « peninsularism », but the transfer succeeded once it had been able to adapt to its new environment.
