K<sub>2</sub>SiF<sub>6</sub>:Mn<sup>4+</sup> phosphor was prepared by wet chemical etching, and the effect of the raw material molar ratio of K/Mn of different materials and different reaction time on the structure and properties of phosphor was studied,the surface of K<sub>2</sub>SiF<sub>6</sub>:Mn<sup>4+</sup> was coated with SiO<sub>2</sub> to improve the thermal stability of K<sub>2</sub>SiF<sub>6</sub>:Mn<sup>4+</sup> phosphor by sol-gel method. The structure, morphology, excitation spectrum and emission spectrum of phosphor powder were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and fluorescence spectrometer. The results show that the change of K/Mn ratio does not change the crystal structure of K<sub>2</sub>SiF<sub>6</sub>:Mn<sup>4+</sup>, the sample has cubic structure. At 460nm excitation, the strongest narrowband emission peak is located at 630nm (<sup>2</sup>E<sub>g</sub> → <sup>4</sup>A<sub>2</sub>). The crystal structure of K<sub>2</sub>SiF<sub>6</sub>:Mn<sup>4+</sup> phosphor coated with SiO<sub>2</sub> has not been changed. The results show that the thermal stability of the K<sub>2</sub>SiF<sub>6</sub>:Mn<sup>4+</sup> phosphor coated with SiO<sub>2</sub> is improved.
