Deskripsi

National University of Asunción Faculty of Economic Sciences Paraguay In Latin America, inequality had destructive impacts on sustainable growth and social cohesion. According to Alicia Bárcena, Executive Secretary of the Economic Council for Latin America (ECLAC), Latin America and the Caribbean, despite having reduced levels of inequality in recent years, it is still considered the most unequal region in the world. The new United Nations agenda challenges member countries to ensure that, in the next 15 years, economic growth will not be to the detriment of the people or the planet's resources. Paraguay, based on the 2030 National Development Plan, has marked its steps for a new worldview, a country of opportunities , where the priority axes point to poverty reduction, social cohesion, and inclusive economic growth. In issue N ° 43, the magazine Population and Development presents eight scientific articles and a reflection within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Objective 3, Health and Well-being , is developed from the article “Evolution and inequalities of maternal mortality in Paraguay; some challenges for its reduction ”. Starting from objective 4, Quality Education , two papers are presented called “An analysis of household education spending in Paraguay: gender biases, language gaps, and access to education” and “Poverty in Paraguay: contribution of secondary education in access to opportunities to overcome poverty ” . Within the framework of objective 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth , three manuscripts analyze this topic: " Culture as a component of economic and social development processes : an analysis of the state of the art", "Economic growth and income distribution: a perspective del Paraguay ”and“ The aging of the population and economic growth: the Paraguayan case ” . The manuscript "Economic-financial viability of the production and commercialization of powdered egg", is presented within objective 9, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure. Finally, in this edition, a reflection on the situation is delivered, called "Considerations on the increase in public debt . " We thank our authors and invite to write all those who have science not only as a discipline of reason, but also of romance and passion (Stephen Hawking).
