<p>A study of knowledge and practice about malaria in the community was conducted in rural area of Banpres and Tongoa, Donggala, Province of Central Sulawesi during February to November 2004.</p> <p>The study was designed as cross sectional study. Thirty-six households were randomly selected for the study. They were interviewed and a questionnaire to investigate knowledge and practice community was applied.</p> <p>Ninety-four point four percent of respondent know that malaria is dangerous and should get treatment, though only 58,8% of respondents know the characteristic of malaria clinical symptom. Eighty point six percent of respondent said that malaria can be prevent. Knowledge about mosquito as malaria vector (47,2%) and malaria vector breeding places (44,4%) is low. Almost of respondents were graduated from primary school (SD). About this research, it is very important to increase knowledge, attitude and practice of community with malaria training to the community.</p> <p> </p> <p>Key words: Knowledge, practice, malaria, Palolo</p>
