While classical infection prevention and control (IPC) methods successfully control most obvious outbreaks, there is a possibility of hidden transmission of pathogens in the hospital environment without a significant surge in case numbers.Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) has a role in identifying such transmissions. Additionally, WGS can also be used to test hypotheses in the IPC field. In this talk, the speaker will touch on the role of WGS in uncovering hidden transmissions and hypothesis testing.
