Deskripsi

Colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) are considered an influential materials platform for the design of optoelectronic devices. They pave way for novel, improved, simple, inexpensive technologies and opportunities in infrared photodetection when compared to other existing technologies. This mini review discusses the recent research progress and achievements in IR photodetection based on Mercury Telluride colloidal quantum dots (HgTe CQD) as they show promising results in device performance. The synthesis and characterization of HgTe CQD reported to date are briefly discussed with insights to the basic theory of device operation. In addition, the device performance of these CQDs, when implemented in photodetector devices are reviewed to understand technological accomplishments and limitations. The review concludes with the future perspective of this rapidly emerging technology.
