Deskripsi
With the rising number of dermatology visits being completed via virtual pathways, the sharing of high-quality images between patient and provider is vital. Smartphone dermoscopy is an emerging technology that when paired with store-and-forward systems optimizes virtual care by improving triage, diagnostic accuracy, and overall workflow. However, with the introduction of new technology, it is important to ensure equitable access to all populations. Preliminary data from our cohort study revealed decreased engagement with smartphone dermoscopy and store-and-forward technology amongst the geriatric population with only 17.4% of participants who initiated virtual visits being at least 65 years of age. Of those, only 56.25% successfully submitted images through the store-and-forward system. Further investigations are required to address the disparity in e-health literacy in this age demographic.
