Highlights Self-healing graphene- and MXene-based composites can be deployed in wearable sensors, supercapacitors, anticorrosive coatings, electromagnetic interference shielding, electronic-skin, and soft robotics. Self-healing graphene- and MXene-based composites have shown improved electrical conductivity, mechanical properties, healing efficacy, and energy conversion efficacy. Self-healing structures can open up considerable new horizons in the future of healthcare, sensors, electronics, robotics, supercapacitors/batteries, coatings, and biomedicine.
