Vocational training and education are key component of economic and social progress, mainly in the current stage of development based on knowledge and digitalisation. The importance of the educational process for a sustainable development is more emphasized in Romania, on the one hand due to the internal economic and social gaps and on the other hand due to the current reduced contribution of education to economic growth. The current health and economic crisis accentuate the material difficulties of the rural population and the access to education. In this context, the pronounced gap between rural and urban areas should be highlighted.
