La place des objets dans La Carte et le territoire de Michel Houellebecq engage non seulement des réflexions esthétiques mais aussi détermine une série de conséquences existentielles, al­lant de l’anéantissement de l’intimité humaine jusqu’à l’aliénation sociale et émotionnelle de l’individu. Nous nous demandons comment les différents systèmes d’objets défendus dans ce roman proposent de structurer et de donner sens au monde. Cet article se propose surtout d’interroger le rapport de l’homme à la matière et d’examiner le spectre étonnant des rela­tions aux objets matériels qui se déploie dans l’œuvre.   Michel Houellebecq’s La Carte et le territoire considers the role of objects not only from an aesthetic standpoint but also involves them in a series of existential implications ranging from the destruction of human intimacy to the social and emotional alienation of the individual. We ask ourselves how the different systems of objects advocated throughout this novel intend on organizing and giving meaning to the world. This article aims above all to question the attitude of man towards matter and to examine the astonishing spectrum of relations to material objects that unfolds in this book.
