In the last 20 years the in vitro gas production technique (IVGPT) has had a remarkable boost and data on fermentation kinetics of numerous feeds are available (Theodorou et al., 1994; Calabrò 1999). However, little is known about the diets formulated from their combination. Aim of the present trial was to compare the IVGPT results of 3 diets for buffalo cows with the estimated values calculated, for each diet, from that of feeds used in their formulation.
