Deskripsi

We report a rare case of laryngeal haematoma in a seventy-year-old gentleman presented to Accident and Emergency department with acute stridor. Examination showed blood clots in supra glottis, glottis, sub glottis and pyriform fossa and some bruising in the neck. Further examination and coagulation profile revealed prolonged Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT). There was neither any past history or family history of bleeding disorders nor was he on any anti coagulants. Further investigations established a diagnosis of acquired factor VIII deficiency and we discuss the case report and further management of this rare and life-threatening condition.
