The enzyme ACE2 is involved in cardiac pathology and can counteract heart failureĀ and other cardio-pulmonary diseases. Here the authors show that bacteria produce an ACE2-like enzyme that is effective in suppressing cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis in mice.
