Population growth in southwest Paraná (1991-2016): an analysis from IBGE data

Considering the relevance of searching for explanatory mechanisms to population growth in Brazilian interior towns, this paper discusses the population growth of 42 municipalities of the Southwest Geographic Region of Paraná using the IBGE database (Demographic Censuses of 1991, 2000, and 2010, in addition to the population estimate for 2016). The results indicate important changes, such as a substantial population growth between 2010 and 2016 and the expansion of the urban population since 1991.
