Architectures of electronic systems in modern aircraft

New aircraft generations face increasingly complex requirements aiming at significant improvement of performances, availability and suitability for maintenance of aviation electronics (avionics). Requested improvements were possible to be realized only by abandoning the sub-system-oriented architecture of integrated avionics and by accepting the function-oriented architecture. Significant improvement in hardware and software development as well as their standardization enabled switching to function-oriented architecture of integrated avionics, together with lower costs. This paper gives a modern approach to future avionics design from the standpoint of physical and functional architecture, information transmission architecture and control.
