Deskripsi

Works of art have the power to
evoke the paradox of a time and a
space prior to existence. This concerns
the subject itself and its desire
to advance toward the unknown
through aesthetics as a quality of
its feeling. Aesthetic emotion is
addressed here in its function of
indicating the reality of drives and
pointing to that which cannot be
thought, that is, the unconscious.
The article explores how aesthetic
feeling can pave the way to subvert
drives and open it up to another
facet of existence, suggesting that
aesthetic emotion serves an essential
function in dealing with horror
and clinging to the human, as well
as to the promise of a possible life.
In this sense, the path involves an
ethical commitment.
