Deskripsi
This paper presents a pragma-linguistic analysis of oral statements by public figures involved in Government-Paramilitary Armies negotiations. It aims to make evident that written media, specially, opinion editorial pieces and interviews developed withing the bounds of such a process reflect its weak, challenging and sombre nature. This analysis is approached from ISA’s (Indirect Speech Acts) perspectives, initially advanced by Searle. In order to accomplish this, I focus in the ways public figures observe and break conversational maxims by introducing courtesy strategies, ironic acts and rhetoric use of speech to help taking care of their self-image. And how all of this, as long as it is disemboweled by an individual will account for a model reader in or out of class.
