The good ruler’s issue can be taking into account from a conservative point of view (one that intends to restate the classical political philosophy learning), and in the sake of a modern project. Leo Strauss and Alexander Kojève have planned the challenge, each one by their own way, to find out in Xenophon’s dialogue Hiero some “tyrannical” features which improve, on the one hand, and on the other be little a possible achievement of perfect political life. The aim of this paper is to surround this polemical debate between friends supporting distinct and at the same time corresponding views.
