Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale is the most widely used psychoIogical test in the area of neuropsychology, though it was not originally designed to assess the effects of brain damage. This psychometric tooI is not sufficient enough. if used alone. to diagnose brain damage. Different types of brain damage produce different patterns of effects on the WAIS. There is no one pattern which is produced by all forms of brain damage that is distinct from some functional problems. This paper deals with the effects of differenct brain damage on the WAIS and their clinical interpretations.
