The article deals with one of the most important and urgent problems of endocrinology — diabetes mellitus and its most common and difficult-to-treat complication — diabetic neuropathy. Clinical picture and diagnostic issues of this disease are described in detail, major principles of the treatment of patients with diabetic neuropathy as recommended by the American Diabetes Association and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (2012) are demonstrated.
