<p>This article explains why some presidential crises end up with the resignation of the president and others trigger the impeachment against him. Research results suggest that: a) some of the variables that shape Executive-Legislative relation and causes political instability, also explain the way the instability is resolved in the framework of the presidential regime; and that b) the isolated influence of these key factors does not explain, by itself, early departures modalities of elected leaders.</p>
