Deskripsi
The aim of this study was to investigate possible association between heredity and bladder cancer occurrence in our population.Analytical method was used, and investigation was conducted as case-control study. The study group was composed of 130 consecutive bladder cancer patients and the same number of controls individually matched to patients by sex, age (± 2 years) and place of residence (rural, urban). For genealogical analysis, both cases and controls were requested to list all their 1st and 2nd degree blood related relatives along with their health status. Family trees were drawn for each of the subjects. The presence of bladder cancer, bladder benign tumors and any other malignant tumors in relatives were recorded. According to our results cases had bigger number of the second degree relatives than controls (t=2.308; p=0.023). There was no significant difference in frequency of bladder tumors between the first and second degree relatives of case and control group. According to Wilcoxon test, number of second degree related relatives diseased of malignancy (without bladder tumors) in case group, was in positive correlation with bladder cancer occurrence (Z=2.559; p=0.010).
