Pediatric liver disease due to viruses capable of sustainedinfection includes Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and HepatitisC virus (HCV). HBV is a DNA virus and is transmittedthrough contamination with infected blood or body fluidsand also mother to infant transmission. Seroprevalence ofHBV is low in general pediatric population.
