Following a personal donation, the canons of the Primatiale Saint Jean of Lyon constitute a common library during the second half of the XVIIIth century. Having become " apprentices librarians ", these canons quickly increase their literary treasure and show their know-how in bibliography. They acquire useful titles for the Chapter (jurisdiction and liturgy). They also get beautiful printed collections, art books and symbolic titles of the Age of the Enlightenment
