This paper provides a synthesis of current knowledge concerning the morphological and landscape evolutions of the French Atlantic and English Channel coasts of France during the Pleistocene and Holocene periods. These changes are compared with archaeological data in order to better understand the distribution of human settlements and the environmental contexts that explain their conservation or destruction.
