The paper treats the problem of permanently current interest: the use of Diesel fuel at low ambient temperatures when the fuel influence is very important. The interaction fuel-engine presents a complex functional dependence from the aspect of usability at low ambient temperatures. The optimization of Diesel fuel properties according to operational demands and ambient influences brings the effects recognized at the market. The realization of the examination of Diesel fuel properties at low temperatures during cold starting opens the possibilities to improve engine and fuel usability while satisfying global needs for energy resources increase.
