The effect of feeding by the Turkish Metadelphax propinqua on barley was investigated in Finland. The number of M. propinqua nymphs and the length of their feeding period on barley did not have any major effects on the barley plants. M. propinqua males had a greater effect on the properties of barley than did the nymphs. The effect of M. propinqua females on the barley was much greater than that of either the nymphs or males.
