This paper summarized the historical changes of mangrove in China, and the spatial distribution,species composition, changes of mangrove and the main influencing factors in each area. The main factors affecting mangrove ecosystem health in China mainly included: pollution, over culturing, ocean engineering, overfishing and biological invasion. Some suggestions on mangrove protection were proposed, including accelerating mangrove protection legislation, comprehensive improvement of surrounding environment, improving the system of ecological compensation, strengthening publicity and education, promoting the transformation of livelihood, and improving the effect of mangrove restoration in many ways.
