THE FACTORS IMPACTING ON STUDENTS’ READING HABITS OF SPECIALIZED BOOKS: A CASE OF HO CHI MINH CITY UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY

This paper investigates students’ reading habits of specialized books in Ho Chi Minh City, then determines the factors impacting on these reading habits. The research model is initiated with 8 factors affecting reading habits of students, such as lecturer, students, home environment, classroom environment, school environment, social environment, virtual environment and materials. The research sample includes 503 students of Ho Chi Minh City, University of Technology. The data from survey demonstrates that the reading habits of students are at low level and 5 factors of lecturer, students, home environment, classroom environment, social environment and virtual environment have significant affects on students’ reading habits of specialized books. From this result, some management implications are suggested to encourage the reading habits of students.
