The search for active catalysts that oxidize methane under ambient conditions is a challenging task. Here, the authors report a nanoscale zinc oxide catalyst that efficiently oxidizes methane under simulated sunlight, with surface plasmon enhanced photo-activity owing to integrated silver nanoparticles.
