The paper analyzes thethe associativity and variability of stalk size intwo-row summer barley (“Sibiryak” cultivar). After studying these statistical parameters, the authors concludedit is possible to select the elite plants with an optimum ratio of stalk length and bottom intersticesin a cultivar population. The possibility of selectingsamples with a short basal zone, basing on the length of the first prefloralny interstice, is proved.
