The project intends to reflect over aspects of João Cabral de Melo Neto’s poetry based on his poems about bullfighting, chiefly those that have references to Manolete, a bullfighter with whom Cabral acknowledges he has esthetic and personal affinities, in verses and declarations. Matters such as the contention of the poetic word and the cabralian antilyricism will be approached by taking into perspective the performative character and the tense and precarious condition of an artistic doing that one wants in the extreme, such as that of the bullfighters, with the awareness of the risks that this choice represents.
