The aim of my essay is to show how in recent TV series the figure of a negative protagonist, a sort of tragic hero, has emerged. This atypical protagonist figure highlights the issue of the viewer’s allegiance from an ethical point of view. A possible answer to this question should be found in the perspective of the narrative ethics as outlined by Ricoeur and McIntyre.
