Deskripsi
In recent years, the fundamental human right of children to read has encountered growing challenges, particularly with a notable increase in censorship. Arizona's HB 2495, effective since September 24, 2022, prohibits the use or reference to sexually explicit material without parental consent, significantly impacting educators. This article recounts how a local teacher-educator and school district staff designed, participated in, and led two consecutive impactful workshops at Professional Development sessions to address censorship issues. It explores how honoring teachers' suggestions in these workshops benefits both educators and their students in the classroom.
