The present article deals with the problem of the comparative characteristics in a doctrine on time and eternity in philosophy of pagan antiquity and patristics in aspect of evolution of some Greek terms signifi cation which were used in philosophy of pagan antiquity for a designation of the concepts connected with eternity (αßών, ªδιον) and time (διάστημα, διάστασις) and which later have been adopted by Christian writers. A number of theological and philosophical aspects of this adaptation have been considered in the present article
