The documents in the Archivio di Stato of Bologna have only been partially studied from the point of view of military history. These works have only focused on the military organization of the city at the end of the thirteenth century. In our contribution we want to study a Treasury register of the year 1365, a period of papal domination over Bologna, with the aim of reconstructing the engagement of mercenaries in the city (geographical origin, social profiles, etc.) and their cost for the city coffers.
