The efficiency of a rabbit farm is affected by many factors but the most important of them is the reproductive rhythm. In Italy the widely used production system implied the artificial insemination (AI) of does at 11 days from kindling. This protocol is well adapted to cyclization, however at time of AI, sexual receptivity is not particularly high and synchronisation hormones have often to be used to reach a satisfactory fertility rate (Castellini and Boiti, 1999).
