Deskripsi
A highly efficient and expeditious one-pot approach towards 2-(3-oxoindolin-2-yl)acetonitriles was designed, which involves a base-assisted aldol reaction of <i>ortho</i>-nitroacetophenones, followed by hydrocyanation, triggering an unusual reductive cyclization reaction.
