This work, dedicated to the memory of Josephine Varone, highlights the role of Mathematics Summer School for teachers training and updating. In particular, we highlight the findings emerged from the Summer School, organized by Mathesis in Terni from 26 to 30 July 2011; in that context we arranged for the collection and editing to be done of documents related to the activities previously carried out by the various working groups about the main branches of mathematics.
