This article focuses on my graduate research on the "Revolt of the Whip", assessing the libraries and archives dedicated to this subject over the last fifteen years. I discuss the initial approach, subsequent difficulties faced and adjustments made in light of these. A defense of the theoretical and methodological reference option is presented, and I show how it helped me to complete my work. I conclude by discussing both the Sailors' Revolt of 1910 and mutineers' movement of 1964.
