This review introduced the background and framework of "Chinese guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of pesudohypertrophy muscular dystrophy". The writing thinking, writing details and omissions of the overview, diagnosis, therapy and prevention were explained, which will be useful to the readers. Meanwhile, the history of some terms, for example, gastrocnemius muscle pseudohypertrophy and Gowers sign were introduced; the examination of serum creatine kinase (CK) measurement and the naming of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) were introduced, too.
