Seed vigor tests have been used as auxiliaries to germination test, which have showed some limitations regarding to seed lot differentiation and the lagging of time to result acquiring. These limitations have been lead to the development of fast and accurate vigor tests, which will help in taking decisions. The electrical conductivity and potassium leakage tests are among the more promising tests, and are based on the membrane permeability being more studied to pea and soybean and, for these crops, these tests are in advanced stage of methodology standardization, and are considered as useful tools in quality control programs.
