Deskripsi
In La Poudre d’Intelligence, the style is completely different : raw, lively, sometimes stripped of any aesthetic depth, veering into scatology, the language, fundamentally prosaic, is in fact dictated to the author by the requirements of the comic genre of the play. Kateb seems to scrupulously conform to the typology of genres according to the scale of values established by Aristotle in Poetics. Indeed, the author of Nedjma does not skimp on the means of expression when it comes to denouncing the ills of society. By openly and bluntly attacking the false devotion and carelessness of those in power, he seeks to strike people’s minds even if it means shocking the reader. Hence this proven propensity for the enormous which leads the author to surrealistically enlarge the features to the point of sometimes pushing the caricature to its limits.
