The utility of a diagnostic test is expressed in various statistical terms such as sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and so on. One such statistical term is likelihood ratio which is a better statistical test than those mentioned above, as this takes into account both diseased and non-diseased subjects. Moreover, likelihood ratio helps one to calculate the post-test probability, if the test in question is positive or negative.
