Introduction RBP4 is an adipokine that participates in insulin function and glucose metabolism. The elevated RBP4 serum levels were previously described in insulin-resistance states.  The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of 8 weeks aerobic training and hydroalcoholic cinnamon extract on RBP4 and insulin resistance in rats fed with high-fructose. Materials and Methods In this experimental study thirty-six Wistar male rats were randomly divided into the four groups: control (n=9), training (n=9), cinnamon (n=9), and training–cinnamon (n=9). Insulin-resistance status induced by %10 fructose solutions during 5 weeks. Training groups subjected to a three-day per week aerobic training program for 8 weeks. The extract groups were fed 200 ml/kg/day cinnamon extract. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and level of statistical significance was set at P<0.05. Results The results showed that aerobic training with or without the extract significantly decreased serum RBP4 (p<0.001). Also, in all the experimental groups significant decrease in serum insulin, glucose, and HOMA-IR, was observed (p=0.005, p=0.008 and p=0.001, respectively). Conclusion Based on the findings, aerobic exercises has beneficial effects on serum RBP4. It seems that the cinnamon extract has no effect on amelioration of insulin resistance through RBP4.
