After explaining that “Home Girls” is a term commonly used in the United States to refer to “women of color,” Alvina
 Quintana introduces herself as “a Chicana who thrives on the writing produced by [her] Chicana ‘Home Girls’”. The reader of Home Girls soon realizes, however, that besides
 possessing inside knowledge of the issues addressed in Chicana literature, Quintana is equally at ease when
