In the Roman theatre at Baelo Claudia two main phases of construction have been identified, both susceptible of different interpretations. The first belongs to the 6th decade of the 1st century CE; the second, to the beginning of the Flavian period. Both were part of a major renovation programme intended to transform the appearance of the town’s public spaces during the second half of the 1st century.
